Who are we ?

After retiring from our teaching positions in 2001, we chose to make ourselves useful on a volunteer basis by sharing our expertise and experiences with others, especially in Latin America. In 2003, we joined the Evangelical Free Church of Canada Mission as Missionary Associates. In this capacity, we are free to travel throughout Latin America and elsewhere assisting in schools, children's homes, churches and community projects. A working knowledge of Spanish has been a determining factor in concentrating our efforts in Central and South America.

Since 2004, we have been priviledged to be involved as consultants and trainers for Panama Christian Academy in Panama City, Panama. We have also continued our involvement with Shalom Children's Home in El Salvador, an involvement which began in 2003 before we were associated with the EFCCM. Initially our involvement was to lead teams of workers to assist with building and maintenance but this year we increased our involvement to provide teacher workshops for the staff of the associated school, AMILAT. In January of 2006, we expanded our educational workshops to include the Quichua Minga project of the highlands of Ecuador. This enormous project was developed and is directed by Christian Quichua leaders and is focused on the spiritual, educational, social and economic needs of this very large indigenous group (decendents of the Incas).

The EFCCM, the missions branch of the Evangelical Free Church of Canada (EFCC), is the sponsoring organization behind missionaries serving in a wide variety of ministries in 28 countries around the world as a partner in the International Federation of Free Evangelical Churches. Opportunities to serve range from work teams (usually two or three weeks) to short term placements to career positions.

For those who know our family, our son Nathan and his wife Dawn also serve with the EFCCM as missionaries in Lithuania. They are busy learning the difficult Lithuanian language as well as teaching English and assisting with the ministry of the national missionaries.
